
IT Lead - Generic Insurance Tech

The Tech Domain ‘Customer Journeys', Insurance & Pensions’ (CJI&P) within Retail NL Tech includes 2 main responsibilities: (1) managing and improving Life Event Journeys and crucial customer journeys and (2) data, insight- and analytics support for continuous improvement of Life Event Journeys, Insurance & Pensions customer processes and operations, and delivery of the engine for analytics capacity within the Segments.
You’ll be working within the leadership team of the Area I&P Products & Generic Tech. This Area is part of the Tribe Customer Journeys, Insurances & Pensions (starting per July 1st). The Area is focused on delivering best-in-class, reliable, highly available, secure, real-time and cost-effective insurance product services supporting private and commercial customers, businesses and operations in their daily journeys and activities. 2024 is seen as an important transition year and from 2025 onwards, a growth path of further introductions of new insurance products. We have confirmed our Tech targets within the Area: Continuously delivering fast, agile, innovative and reliable Tech solutions for coming years to be the best partner in Insurance products & services in the Netherlands.
As Tech Lead - Generic Insurance Tech you have a very challenging and leading role for the coming 2-3 years to provide solid and cost-effective generic Tech solutions enabling new business models, insurance products, improved customer journeys and future partnerships.
Top responsibilities
- The development of fundamental future-proof technology solutions according to the target architecture (including decommissioning legacy applications) for new Execution Only sales Digital Connect platform, new Claims Handling services, My Insurances services (mijn verzekeringen) and Data & Information factory service (Data driven enterprise);
- You lead the daily Tech delivery operations (run & change) with an exemplary role in leadership and agile mindset, creating a culture of excellence, engineering and continuous learning;
- Supporting and coaching a high engaged multi-disciplinary, self-organizing and continuously improving teams of Tech engineers with extensive knowledge of insurance processing combined with a strong focus on predictability, quality, stability and continuity;
- Accountable for the security and risk Control agenda of your department. Ensuring the right priorities are given to Risk, Security, Compliancy and Life Cycle Management;
- Accountable for IT incidents, change, vulnerability and Business Continuity Management of your Tech scope. You take the lead in case of emergency (COT/CMT procedures);
- Responsible for financial forecast (both direct costs and indirect charging). Responsible for yearly budget process;
- HR responsible for your DevOps teams regarding people and talent management; IT capability building. continuous upskilling and reskilling of (internal) staff to ensure they remain relevant and professional in product development within the tribe and with this responsible for Engagement and Agile maturity;
- Shape the developing vision, strategy and roadmap for the DevOps teams in scope together with business and Senior Management;
- Stakeholder management & collaboration over Tech departments and with the business (specific with (sr) Tech Leads, Area leads and Product Owners);
- Manage internal suppliers and (IT-)vendors.
You and your talent

- You are a seasoned professional in Tech Delivery & change management with at least 5-10 years of experience in managing complex IT projects, technology solutions & management of IT Engineers and multidisciplinary teams of this size (30+ FTEs), including HR responsibility;
- Communication and influencing skills at the highest level, aimed at motivating and inspiring employees and managing internal and external partners ( including potential conflicting interests)
- Experience with different delivery sourcing models from onsite to nearshore and offshore.
